Ultra low loss coax cable: mechanical & electrical design

The ULX Series phase stable ultra low loss RF cables are constructed with a silver-plated copper center conductor and a microporous PTFE dielectric. The shielding integrates either an Al tape or Helical SPC tape, reinforced by an SPC outer braid and an FEP jacket. This structure yields a minimum bend radius of 10 mm and shielding effectiveness >90 dB.

Electrically, the series functions as a temperature stable RF cable, restricting the phase change rate to under 500 PPM across a stationary state temperature spectrum of -50°C to +80°C. The ULX ultra low loss coax cable series handles up to 15 KW peak power and 5000 VDC voltage limits. This robust capacity effectively mitigates signal degradation. Signal delay ranges from 4.02 nS/m to 4.39 nS/m, guaranteeing exact timing synchronization across high-frequency applications up to 83 GHz.

Ultra Low Loss Coaxial Cable FAQs

What dictates the phase stability of the ULX Series during mechanical flexure?
The mechanical phase stability is evaluated via a one-rotation detection method along the repeated bending radius. The stability is primarily governed by the interaction between the physical cable structure and the microporous PTFE dielectric material.
How does temperature variation impact the phase performance of these low-loss phase stable cables?
The ULX series operates as a temperature stable RF cable, registering a phase change rate of 500 PPM within the -50°C to +80°C range under stationary conditions. This converts to a maximum shift of 0.05%, ensuring reliable signal integrity across thermal fluctuations.
What is the structural difference between the "P" variants (e.g., ULX-220P) and standard variants (e.g., ULX-400)?
While both configurations utilize a microporous PTFE dielectric within the ultra low loss coaxial cable series, the standard variants (ULX-400, 600, 850) incorporate an Aluminum tape inner shield and operate up to +85°C. Conversely, the "P" variants (ULX-220P to 1200P) integrate a Helical SPC tape inner shield, enabling an extended operating temperature up to +165°C and a higher velocity of propagation up to 83%.
